Hydro-Turf Boat Installation
Updated: Apr 19, 2018
If you're wondering what #HydroTurf is...you might not be alone. Hydro-turf is used primarily in the marine industry as a boat deck padding. It's a closed cell foam that won't hold water and offers a lot of advantages over other floor coverings. We installed hydro-turf to the decking of our old boat and immediately fell in love with it. It sat outside, uncovered for two years and never once did we have an issue with the hydro-turf cracking or un-adhearing from the boat. It was a complete game changer.
When we upgraded to our new boat we knew hydro-turf would be one of the first things we would add. Especially considering we have an aluminum boat and we live in the south, which means it gets HOT! Literally, that aluminum could burn your skin at times and that's not how I want to spend my time out on the water.
You order it in sheets. We chose the swamp camo (pictured below) with the cut groove for the added texture. But also because this groove would be the easiest of the groove choices to sweep out debris / grass /sand or whatever might get into the boat while we are hunting.
Benefits of Hydro-Turf:
Noise dampening qualities.
Doesn't get hot.
More comfortable to stand on for long periods of time.
Closed cell foam means it won't hold water.
No slip surface.
If you've ever thought about adding hydro turf to your boat deck, DO IT! You won't regret it.
